Take fire-preventive action for your home

Hey California! Help firefighters protect your home against the fire by creating a 5-foot buffer zone around your house.

How? Get a rake and remove old leaves and/or pine needles. Don’t forget to take care of those old dried out bushes, and anything that’s combustible.

What is a buffer zone?

Zone 1: 0–5 feet

No combustible material at all.

Zone 2: 5–30 feet

Have limited plantings, and any grass mowed to less than 4 inches in height.

Zone 3: 30–100 feet

Maintain area under trees clear and grass kept below 6 or 7 inches in height.

There are 3 levels of protection

Zone A: 0–5 feet

No combustible material at all.

Zone B: 5-30 feet

Have limited plantings, and any grass mowed to less than 4 inches in height.

Zone C: 30-100 feet

Maintain area under trees clear and grass kept below 6 or 7 inches in height.
